7 Boards Games That You Can Play At Home

Walk down the memory lane with these board games that you grew up playing!

Do you remember simpler times when all you had on your mind was homework and playing board games with your sibling in your free time? Seriously, the 90’s were something else entirely! Back then my idea of a fun day was watching cartoons and Hip Hip Hooray, spending the afternoon with my family and ending the day with a chocolate milkshake from a restaurant nearby.

While that’s not possible, we can bring out these board games and savour the pause with family time!

1. Chess

Okay, I’ll admit it! I have no idea how to play Chess. I’d often see my cousin playing Chess and just assume that anything goes anywhere. Was I delusional? Duh! For those of you who know how to play Chess, it’s the perfect board game for some problem-solving skills. If you’re as clueless as me, maybe it’s time we learn Chess together with this tutorial!

No matter how old you are, Pictionary is a board game that never gets old or boring. It has very simple rules, the main one being that you can’t talk. Divide your family in teams with equal numbers of players in all teams and get started! While Pictionary can get extremely competitive, it’s also interactive and fun. It’s indeed the perfect board game for an evening of fun

3. Scrabble

I remember Scrabble as the board game that ended with me feeling like crap because my vocabulary back then was extremely limited and often I’d get yelled at for using the same words every single time. Come at me now, sister! Seriously, I can’t wait to play this one with my family and leave them speechless this time around. How to play this? It’s simple. You wait for your turn and put down words from the alphabets you’ve received. Once the other player is done, you use your alphabets to make words from what’s already on the board. Each alphabet has points written on it. Player with the most points wins! Yay!

5. Life

I find the poster on this board game so ironic because no board game played with family leaves me feeling this happy, because I’m perpetually the one who loses! *insert devastated emoji* If you’re a sore loser too, board games night can be a tad tough for you. I try to remind myself that the fun lies in playing together, not in winning! Learn how to play this here!

6. Dumb Charades

The one board game that makes you look like lunatics, Dumb Charades takes you right back to school. We’ve played this one at every single birthday party. It’s pretty easy - You’re divided in groups. One group guesses while the other enacts. The new version also has cards for humming to guess the song and other features like these.
