We recommend you bring out the tissue papers already.
Aren’t you “blown” away by the entire taam-jhaam of cricket? The excitement, the rush and even the pressure brings all of us on our toes. We scream at the screens like that would change anything. Cry when there is an emotional moment and fret about if we are awaiting third umpire decision. This is when we realise that cricket is not just a game, it is something more.
Here are some of the most emotional cricket moments that brought true fans to tears… better grab some tissues.
1. Winning 2011 World Cup
After 28 years, India won the World Cup in 2011. Sri Lanka was defeated by 6 wickets and the crowd was roaring for MS Dhoni when he hit the winning six. Yuvraj Singh was back to the field after battling cancer. Both him and Harbhajan Singh, were in tears. The entire scene was a total stunner. So many feels floating in the air, how would you not sob in a corner?
2. When Yuvraj Singh hit 6 sixes off Stuart Broad in a T20I
I can still remember the entire scene when this legendary moment took place back in 2007. Just before Yuvraj was going to hit those six sixes, it was as if the entire stadium went quiet and suddenly there was a never-ending uproar when he smashed Stuart Broad in style. After this feat, he became the second Indian to rocket off the ball over the boundary in a row. Thinking about it still makes me tear up a bit.
3. When MS Dhoni was in tears after India couldn’t make it to the World Cup 2015 finals
It was a hard time when India couldn’t make it to the finals of World Cup 2015. The Men in Blue had to go home as they lost against Australia. Even MS Dhoni who is usually a calm and composed player, couldn’t stop himself from tearing up during the presentation ceremony. This moment broke us down to pieces.
4. Virat Kohli dedicated his half century to Sachin Tendulkar in 2016 World T20 against Pakistan
Sachin had come to see the boys play, and Virat Kohli overwhelmed by the gesture dedicated his half-century to Sachin. Bowing down in reverence to the Master Blaster, Virat thanked his idol. Seeing the bond between them made us cry uncontrollable happy tears.
5. When Sachin scored 200 in One Day International against South Africa in 2010
Nobody could keep calm when Sachin scored a double century in an ODI. It was unthinkable till the Master Blaster made it possible. Even though there will be many who might try and succeed, our Sachin will forever be the first person to bag this trophy.
